Over the past couple of years, ‘WINGS’ has gained the reputation of being the community’s premier Sports and Cultural Festival. Having tasted brilliant success last year, this year WINGS18 is all set to hold the 4-day extravaganza, starting 8th November, 2018 at the Rustom Baug Grounds. Organized entirely by a dynamic team of youngsters, the event in its third year promises an even higher level excitement and talent. With Parsi Times as its media partner since its very first chapter, the Community’s leading news weekly which is known for its high youth outreach, is delighted to yet again Media Partner with this vibrant team of go-getters!
Having managed to register over 250 teams across 12 events, the second edition of WINGS in 2017, was everything it promised to be. The team is back, with a bigger vision as it looks to expand in terms of events and participation. This year, WINGS’18 presents three new events that have never been carried out at an All Parsi level before – Paintball, 1v1 Football, and PUBG.
Equipped with a 120 feet paintball arena, state-of-the-art equipment and 120 bullets at the disposal of a team of 4, WINGS’18 will be organized professionally and ably handled by experts. For the 1v1 Football event, our bawa footballers will be put to the ultimate test, single handedly taking on their opponent in a 400 square foot metal cage! The idea of the event is to find out the most talented and skilled footballer in the community. To make things even more exciting, if a player manages to nutmeg his opponent, that is pass the ball through his opponent’s leg, he shall automatically be granted a goal! The event promises to be one of the most exciting additions to WINGS’18! Acknowledging the craze that the mobile game PUBG has created, WINGS’18 has organized a PUBG tournament which will have squads across the city compete on a single platform in a league-based format to prove their supremacy of the game! This is Wings’ first ever-online gaming event, and has already managed to create a huge buzz, receiving over 100 participants in the last week itself.
WINGS’18 also brings back Direct Volleyball to its list of events and has specially built a whole new court at the venue to accommodate the veteran sport, hence there will now be two simultaneously active courts to accommodate events in a tight schedule.
The organizers, through their media launch, thanks various organizations that have supported this event since the beginning – The World Zoroastrian Organization Trust Funds, The Bombay Parsi Punchayet, Rustomjee Builders, The Union Press, WAPIZ, Zoroastrian Bank and the community’s favourite weekly, Parsi Times. The support of these organizations has been invaluable.
The event welcomes the community to participate and register themselves in the events of their choice and be a part of the fabulous WINGS story! Registrations are open to all and will close on the 25th October, 2018.
