India Trounce Australia To An Emphatic Win: India overpowered Australia in their own den to win convincingly by a margin of 137 runs. ‘Man of the Match’ Jasprit Bumrah’s snared a nine wicket haul, putting India in the lead. Batting first, India notched up a 443-7 declared in 169.4 overs, with debutant Mayank Agarwal’s 76, and Cheteshwar Pujara’s century coupled with skipper Virat Kohli’s vital 82. New daddy Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 63 as Pat Cummins grabbed 3-72 in 34 overs. In reply, Australia was bundled out for 151 in 66.5 overs. Jasprit Bumrah picked 6-33 in 15.5 overs. India declared at 106-8 in the second innings as Australians finished at 261 in 89.3 overs during the fourth innings, handing India a heroic victory.

Mentor Ramakant Achrekar Passes Away: Dronacharya Award winning coach, Ramakant Achrekar, known to have mentored greats including Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, Chandrakant Pandit, Balwinder Singh Sandhu Sr and Ajit Agarkar passed away at 87, in Mumbai.

Serena Williams Wins Hopman Cup: Winner of 23 slam singles titles, Serena Williams beat 97th ranked Brit Katie Boulter – 6-1, 7-6 (7/2) – to win her singles games at the mixed teams Hopman Cup in Perth.

Djoko In Qatar Open Quarters: Novak Djokovic beat 36th-seeded Marton Fucsovics (Hungary), winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the Quarterfinals in the Qatar Open.


FOOTBALL

Premier League: On 29th December 2018, Brighton beat Everton 1-0, Fulham edged out Huddersfield with a 1-0 win. Cardiff proved to be stronger, winning 1-0 V/s Leicester. On the other hand Wolves defeated Tottenham 3-1, Watford and Newcastle were involved in a 1-1 draw. Liverpool outplayed Arsenal with a 5-1 victory. The following day, Chelsea won 1-0 with Crystal Palace while Burnley went passed the winning line comfortably beating West Ham 2-0, Manchester City beat Southampton 3-1, and finally Manchester United won 4-1 against opponents Bournemouth.
