Keep The Faith!

Dear Readers,

The fact that we live in quite interesting times is not lost on anyone. There’s an overwhelming increase in the number of gut-wrenching crimes across the world. There’s a lot more chaos going on in the world, than we have ever known or experienced. Most news headlines leave us shocked, pondering the (in)human mind’s affinity for violence and treachery.

Some wise men have termed this period as ‘ghor kalyug’ or the epitome (ghor) of the age of evil (kalyug). Now, whether you’re a believer, atheist or agnostic, there are some universal facts and laws none of us can escape. The one currently calling the shots can be summed up as ‘Comeuppance’ – meaning, we get what we deserve… All things happen for a reason. As we sow, so shall we reap… and we reap at all levels – as individuals, as a community and as a collective human race. The current worldwide situation, then, reflects the comeuppance of our entire species.

One of the few things which provides both – succour and solution, during such times, is faith. Insomuch, we are truly blessed to belong to the glorious Zoroastrianism faith, which is based on, and instils in us, the practice of Good Thoughts, Good Words and Good Deeds. And this holds true, immaterial of your outlook towards religion. There is a difference – while religion is a structured system of worship, faith is about one’s beliefs and life-philosophy.

As Zoroastrians, we are fortunate to be raised with this inbuilt belief system, propped solidly upon the three pillars of good thoughts, words and deeds, which will undoubtedly see us through these times of Kalyug, and perhaps even contribute towards its imminent destruction, as is expected of the true warriors of our Prophet Zarathushtra. All we need to do is keep the faith, and keep it strong!

Have a good weekend!
