WZO Trust Funds Holds Prize Distribution Program

Boosting the morale of young Zoroastrians of Navsari, the WZO Trust Funds organised its 19th Academic annual prize distribution programme on the eve of 7th January, 2024, at Sirvai Party Plot, Navsari. 96 of the 199 students, from Junior KG to Post Graduate level, received cash prizes, while all were given a return-gift. The event was graced by Chief Guest – Yasmin Charna – Head of Boarding Section, Bai Avabai Faramji Petit High School (Mumbai), alongside Guests of Honour – Dr. Farida Minocherherhomji – Principal, B P Baria Science Institute (Navsari); and Dr. Hufrish Deboo – Asst. Prof., Commerce/Accountancy Honors Dept, Sir K P Commerce College (Surat).

The programme commenced with the introduction and felicitation of the dignitaries by Trustees of WZO Trusts – Rohinton Contractor, Aspi Ambapardiwala and Cyrus Vandriwala, followed by a welcome speech by the latter, sharing brief details of various welfare activities undertaken by WZO Trusts. All speakers motivated and inspired the students to stay committed to achieving their desired goals. Yasmin Charna emphasised on the core values of education and discipline for success and sang a Monajat, which received much applause.  Dr. Farida urged Parsi industrialists to give job preference or reserve an employment quota for young Zoroastrians; while Dr. Hufrish stressed on the indispensability of education as the key to success.

Three students securing special honours were Areez Gandhi for securing top grade 10/10 in 2nd year MBBS; Sharmin Kika for securing 9.75/10 grade in M. Sc; and Kazvin Vandriwala for securing 9.6/10 grade in B.Com – Accounting and Finance.

Rohinton Contractor gave the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries; the Trustees of Bai Dosibai Kotwal Parsi Orphanage; WZO Trusts Chairman – DinshawTamboly and Bachy Tamboly for their financial and moral support; Sharmin Tamboly, Simin Bharda, Parvana Vandriwala, Zinobia Ambapardiwal and all volunteers for their assistance; Sunnu Kasad for refreshments; and all other attendees. The programme ended with the rendition of ‘Chhaiye Hame Zarthosti’ and the national anthem.
