Parsi Pride And Parsipanu

Dear Readers,

We enter the second month of the year with a renewed sense of faith and pride in our Parsipanu, as some of our stalwarts successfully restrengthen the glorious Parsi legacy, in terms of both – exceptional achievements and exemplary deeds of service.

The community rejoiced on the eve of our 75th Republic Day as two brilliant Parsi personalities were honoured with the nation’s highest civilian honours. Renowned microbiologist Dr. Yazdi Maneksha Italia was bestowed the prestigious Padma Shri in the field of Medicine and the highly esteemed Padma Bhushan was presented to Hormusji N. Cama – MD of the iconic Mumbai Samachar, in the field of Literature and Education (Journalism). To add to that, the poster boy of Indian cricket, legendary wicket-keeper-cum-batsman – our very own Farokh Engineer, was felicitated with the most prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) for his exemplary legacy!

On another highly inspiring note, filling our hearts with as much gratitude as pride, was WAPIZ’s ‘Helping Hands for Seniors’ project, which yet again came to the rescue of two senior siblings living in an appallingly decrepit and destitute condition. Kudos to Team WAPIZ for having restored not just their health and living conditions, but also their dignity in their twilight years. Read about all this and more in our issue today!

On behalf of the community, PT salutes all these greats, who provide the much-needed motivation for the rest of us, setting the perfect precedent by looking beyond ourselves, and working beyond our limitations, so we can play our intended role in furthering our Parsi pride and our Parsipanu.

Have a lovely weekend!

– Anahita
