Parzor, founded under the aegis of UNESCO, to further knowledge of Parsi Zoroastrian culture and heritage, has been working with TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences), Mumbai, to share its collective knowledge worldwide, culminating into the ‘TISS-Parzor Academic Programme on Culture And Heritage Studies’, which will commence in September 2024.
This is the first of its kind of a digital course on the unique Parsi minority. This course has something to offer students of diverse disciplines, ranging from sociology and history to literature, environmental science and art. It opens up career options in heritage and cultural management, tourism, media and films, publishing and textiles. Being an online course, geography won’t pose a challenge to students, who will get to interact with experts in their fields, from across the globe. There is no age limit – it’s open to all enthusiasts. For faculty in various institutions, there is a possibility of adding this Course to enrich perspectives in the study of fields including South and Central Asian Studies, demographics, community studies, theatre and film studies, and social entrepreneurship and other areas of a holistic education.
The Parsis are an excellent example of a migrant, minuscule group succeeding against all odds in a multicultural world, boasting of a journey of resilience and becoming inspirational in a world, where thousands of people find themselves uprooted from their traditional environment.
