Heartfelt tributes were paid on the passing of Hormazdiyar Patel, former Trustee of Surat Parsi Panchayat, at Sheth P K Kadim Atashbehram, Shahpore on 7th September, 2024, commencing with a prayer by Vada Dasturji Er. Cyrus Dastur, followed by a condolence address by Homi Doodhwala, President – SPP (Surat Parsi Panchayat), who extolled the remarkable contributions made by him. Hormazdiyar Patel was also an active member of numerous associations including PPM, Surat Parsi Gymkhana, Sheth P. K. Kadim Atashbehram, Bag-e-Parsa Adarian, Sheth Dhanjisha Rustamji Umrigar Memorial School, Leprosy Home (Surat), etc.

Cyrus Dotivala, Ariana Parabia, Zawareh Wadia, Maharukh Chichgar, Aspi Gyara, Jimmy Kharadi, Burzin Chiniwala, Padmashri Yazdi Karanjia and many others rendered heartfelt speeches about Hormazdiyar, referring to him as a perfect Zoroastrian who followed the path of Humata, Hukata, and Hvarshta. Mahatab Bhatporia read out a condolence message sent by Burjorji Antia. Kaizin Parabia, daughter of the late Hormazdiyar thanked all for their warmth, love and respect. The meeting concluded with handing over the plaque to the family of late Hormazdiyar Patel. The ceremony was anchored by Dilnaz Besania.

Earlier, Surat’s Parsee Pragati Mandal (PPM) and ZWAS also paid a prayer tribute on the passing of its distinguished community members – Late Freny Chipia and Dhun Kharas. Anchored by Maharukh Chichghar, the prayer tribute for Freny Chipia and Dhun Kharas was held at the Tamna Ni Dharamshala and attended by a large number of humdins. Daizy Patel, President – PPM, spoke of the helpful services rendered selflessly by the two deceased ladies. Short speeches were also made praising their contributions and gentle yet passionate dispositions towards community service by others including Aspi Gyara, Kashmira Palia, Jimmy Kharadi, Khurshid Sethna (daughter of Freny Chippia). Cyrus Dotivala read messages sent by Yasmin Dotiwala. The meeting concluded with a humbandagi and handing over condolence notes to respective family members.
