Dear Readers,
Our nation and our worldwide community was overcome with immense despair upon learning of the passing of the great, iconic Ratan Tata – the perfect role model, known for his extraordinary humility, simplicity, compassion, philanthropy and his unwavering commitment to ethical corporate practices.
A spontaneous outpouring of emotion erupted from across the world, paying rich tribute to this Titan industrialist and nation-builder, revered as the Architect of Modern Indian Industry. Few industrialists can boast of a record as immaculate as that of the inspirational Ratan Tata – a true son of India, the tallest feather in the Parsi cap, a man of God and an exemplary Zarthosti who led the way with his good thoughts, good words and good deeds.
A true star, he shone the brightest, without making any ‘noise’ about it in a world obsessed with self-aggrandization. Presiding as the much-cherished boss of Bombay House, Tata’s Corporate Headquarters, for over two decades, he proved a visionary, transforming the Tata Group from a traditional Indian business house into a leading international conglomerate – a sprawling global enterprise with a portfolio ranging from salt to software to sports cars!
But he earned even greater love and respect for donating much of his revenues to various philanthropic causes, never disappointing anyone in genuine need, even caring deeply for those who couldn’t voice their helplessness, as is evidenced by his love and support for street dogs. Those lucky enough to have met him, will vouch for his sincere willingness to always help them.
He embodied the best of both worlds – exuding a sophisticated, old-world charm and always being the perfect gentleman, while also keeping pace with the times, adopting modern technologies and wowing all with his magnetic presence on social media, mainly ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
As a national icon and an industrial magnate, he will be immortalized for building a remarkable and enduring legacy of integrity and innovation in India under his visionary leadership, which shaped and expanded Tata Group’s operations to over 100 countries, while setting global benchmarks in ethical business practices.
The uncontested Kohinoor of the Parsi crown, Ratan Tata was indeed an exemplary leader and an unparalleled legend who leaves behind an incomparable legacy. A true man of his word, he once famously quoted, “What I want to do is leave behind a world that is better because of what we have done.” And he did just that… and more.
His loss is one that is felt by the heart of the nation and the soul of our community. It will be felt for a long, long time to come. We stand by the Tata family in this moment of loss and grief, and pray that his noble soul attains eternal peace. Garothman Behest Hojoji!
