Pakistan Post Issues Dinshaw Avari Stamp

On 18th December, 2016, the Pakistan Post issued a special commemorative multi-coloured stamp of Rs 8 to honour the life and work of Dinshaw Byramji Avari, a pioneering hotelier and philanthropist, who became the first commerce graduate from his village and went on to have an inspiring career. Dinshaw’s started out as a clerk at ‘Sunlife Insurance Company of Canada’ in Karachi and moved up the ladder with his sincerity and hard work to become an Insurance Agent and Manager! Achieving record business, he went on to become the General Manager for Sindh, Balochistan, NWFP, Punjab and Afghanistan and also the first Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in Asia. Dinshaw was deeply involved with social causes, war efforts, and was a founding member of Rotary and Trustee of many Parsi Trusts including Karachi Parsi Anjuman.
