On 6th December, 2023, the recently launched melodic version of the popular Parsi Monajat (religious song) ‘Khudavind Khavind’, composed by Kaizad Patel and sung melodiously by Naynaz Munsaf, won two awards in the Regional Music Category, at the Evergreen Music Awards ceremony, held in Mumbai, by V S Nation. Underscoring the rich musical talent within our community, Naynaz Munsaf was awarded the ‘Best Singer’ award and Kaizad Patel received the ‘Best Music Director’ award.

Sharing his delight with Parsi Times on the occasion, Kaizad Patel said, “The recognition of our hard work in these categories is a source of immense pride for the entire Parsi community. The song has been garnering praise and appreciation from all over.” The presence of distinguished personalities, including Bollywood singer Anupama Srivastava, who graced the occasion and presented the awards, added to the grandeur of the event. “We thank Parsi Times for the coverage provided as sharing success stories of our community members fosters a sense of pride and serves as inspiration for others to pursue their passions and contribute to the rich cultural tapestry of our community,” added Kaizad Patel.

The original Monajat was sung by Mani Rao, and its new version was released on 26th August, 2023, by Kaizad Patel, who conceptualised this idea to recreate the beautiful monajat with greater technical inputs (adding to the divinity essence), so as to find greater appeal with this generation.
