Secunderabad’s Zoroastrian Club Celebrates Club Day

The Zoroastrian Club, Secunderabad, hosted a memorable Club Day on 9th June, 2024, bringing community members together in celebration and solidarity.

Commencing with an auspicious sacred Dae Mah Jashan, the evening celebrations kicked off with a humorous and enlightening talk by well-known filmmaker, researcher and writer, Kaevan Umrigar, whose engaging presentation ‘What’s in a Name’, delved into the quirky chronicles of Parsi surnames, sharing fascinating histories and anecdotes, on how our surnames connect us to a rich tapestry of cultural narratives, linking our lineage. Ancestral roots were also mapped on Google, providing global references that highlighted the widespread influence and migration of our community.

Vice President of The Zoroastrian Club, Kerfegar Antia felicitated Kaevan Umrigar with a shawl and Hoofrish Bisney presented him a beautiful painting on wood that she had personally designed, while Roxana Chehna gifted him the famed Hyderabad cookies.

The evening continued with a lively session of Housie enjoyed by all and a delicious spread of snacks. “The Club Day is a testament to the strength and unity of our community, through prayer, laughter and shared stories, celebrating our heritage and looked forward to a future where traditions and bonds continue to thrive,” shared Jehangir Bisney, President, Zoroastrian Club.
