India’s leading eye-surgeon and a globally celebrated name in Ophthalmology, Dr. Cyres K. Mehta added yet another feather to his illustrious cap, by debuting as an author, with a twin launch – presenting two remarkable books, each offering unique insights into the world of eye care and his own exceptional growth and journey.

The first book, titled ‘The Sight Guide’ is an invaluable resource for all eye-health enthusiasts. Covering a spectrum of common eye diseases, it provides readers with insights into various eye-conditions alongside ground-breaking modern technologies available for treatment. Dr. Mehta demystifies these ailments, making complex medical information accessible to all. An intimate biography chronicling Dr. Cyres Mehta’s life, the second book, ‘CYRES: The Education of an Ophthalmologist’ gives a glimpse into the challenges, triumphs and unwavering dedication that define Dr. Mehta’s career – from humble beginnings to becoming a celebrated worldwide authority in eye surgery.

The books were unveiled at an official launch held at South Mumbai’s Taj President Hotel, on 10^th October, 2023. The event was hosted by eminent columnist – Nisha JamVwal, and witnessed the presence of a galaxy of luminaries from various industries, including Chief Guest – Vivek Phansalkar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mumbai; and Guests of Honour – Vishwas Nangre Patil IPS; Padma Bhushan –Hafeez Contractor; and Padma Shri – Dr. Keiki R. Mehta. Other distinguished dignitaries present were Upadhyay IPS, Dr. Pasricha IPS, Bollywood’s leading choreographer – Terence Lewis, Wardha Khan Nadiadwala, journalist and wife of mega film-producer, Sajid Nadiadwala; P S Pasricha, former Commissioner of Mumbai Police; Hon’ry Consul General of Iceland – Gul Kripalani; Deputy Consul General of Germany – Marja Einig; Jimmy Mistry – Founder, Della Resorts; industrialist Parvez Damania, Co-author – Prof. Cyrus Gonda… and others who also joined in lauding Dr. Cyres for his remarkable achievements.

Mehta has received numerous prestigious awards, including the International Hero of Indian Ophthalmology, The SOI International Award, Youngest Eye Surgeon, British Ophthalmic Excellence Award, Swiss Eye Research Foundation Award, and many more. Trailblazing a number of firsts to his credit, Dr. Cyres Mehta was the first Indian to be honoured with the ‘Presbymania’ Award; he acquired Maharashtra’s first automated Robotic Avedro Cornea System as well as Robotic cataract surgery system and SMILE minimally invasive laser vision correction system. He was awarded ‘Fellow Of The Collegium Of AIOS’ At Annual Conference (May 2023).
