NMA Launches J N Tata Memorial Lecture Series

The Navsari Management Association (NMA), an initiative of Rotary Club of Navsari, has launched a lecture series dedicated to Jamsetji Tata – the pioneer and doyen of Indian Industries, and the illustrious ‘Son of Navsari’, on his birth anniversary dated 3rd March, 2020. This will be an annual event, with the first of the lecture series delivered by Suhel Seth – media celebrity, actor, writer, columnist and philanthropist – titled, ‘TATA – Inspiring Trust’.

The J N Tata Memorial Centre auditorium was filled with enthusiastic Navsari residents to celebrate the 181st birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata – marking the flagship event of NMA. Utkarsh Desai, Principal District Judge, Bharuch, presided as the Guest of Honour, alongside Sarosh Batliwalla, Trustee of multiple Tata Trusts, and Chairman of the J N Tata Birthplace Trust. Desai extolled the history of Parsis, J N Tata, the Tata family and its Trusts, also praising the Parsi community and their contribution to the development of Navsari and the nation.

In his keynote address, Suhel Seth revealed lesser known facts about Jamsetji Tata. He suggested that Tata Trusts maintain a museum in this birthplace, Jamshedji, to make people aware of the great Tatas’ journey. He commended how Tatas’ values and policies remained unchanged despite how rapidly principles are changing all over. He described Jamsetji’s contributions to India’s development and his great ideology that makes the Tata establishment the most cherished and trusted in India and the world over.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity to the youth of Navsari to gain greater awareness of the Tata legacy. Kudos to the efforts of NMA, its President – Lalit Pandya and Past President – Hardik Naik, this tribute to ensure that Navsari always remembers its hero – Jamsetji Tata.
