Sazeman Celebrates Jashn-e-Sadeh

On 30th January 2019, the Mumbai based Sazeman-e-Jawanan-e-Zartoshty-e-Irani, celebrated the auspicious Jashn-e-Sadeh at the NM Petit Fasli Atesh Kadeh Hall. Speaking in Persian, Darayush Zainabadi, Hon. Administrator welcomed the congregation and explained the relevance of Jash-e-Sadeh. Thereafter, Manaz Zainabadi, Managing Trustee, introduced the guests who had come in from Iran, America and London.

The function began with lighting a ceremonial fire followed by Jasan performed by the Mobeds with Avesta Kalams filling the hall with blessings to all. Chief Guest, Yasmin Charna, who heads the Boarding Section of Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls’ High School (Bandra) for two decades, held the audience attnetion with her vast knowledge of Zoroastrian prayers, their significance and effects in the times of strife. Guest of Honor, Dr. Prof. Pearl Pastakia, the Head of English Dept. at Mumbai’s St. Xaviers College, Mumbai, and Aban Khodadad Irani (Wibs Bread) graced the occasion with their presence. The President of Sazeman, Khodayar Attaie, felicitated Yasmin Charna, Dr. Prof. Pearl Pastakia and Aban Khodadad Irani.

Iranian guest, Darayush Yazashni, regaled the audience with popular Iranian songs played on the tambourine (a popular musical instrument in Iran to sing community songs), singing in Persian and Dari. Thanks was expressed to President Attaie, Vice-President Mehraban Tirandazi and Armin Hormuz Kermani; and Managing Trustee Manaz Zainabai and other committee members of the Sazeman for their support. Sazeman is thankful to the Iranian Zoroastrian Anjuman for their contribution as also to the Trustees of Fasli Atesh Kadeh for providing their premise (hall) for the functions. The program ended with distribution of chasni, fruits and dry fruit packets to all.

Jashn-e-Sadeh, the ancient Iranian ‘Festival of Harvest’, is celebrated throughout Iran with great enthusiasm by all Zoroastrians and other communities.
