Organised by their Fund Raising Chairman, Lion Feroze Katrak, The Lions Club of Byculla held its annual FundRaiser at the Tata Theatre, NCPA, which was packed to capacity, on 2^nd March, 2019. An Advertisement Brochure was also unveiled on the occasion. The highly entertaining evening comprised humorous skits by Suresh Menon, stand-up comedy by Anu Menon (of Lola Kutty fame) and Ashwin Mushran; spectacular dances by glamorous dancers on live songs sung by Sagar Kendurkar and the internationally renowned Charmaine Lobo.  The audience was regaled by the superlative performances by HK Productions.

Praising the Chief Guest for the evening – D Sivanandan – Lion Feroze Katrak shared how Sivanandan has been the ex-Commissioner of Police – Nagpur; ex- Commissioner of Police – Thane; and ex – Commissioner of Police – Mumbai, and was also the Jt. Director of CBI for three years, and finally DGP Maharashtra. He concluded by venerating the Chief Guest as the ‘Top-Cop Turned Philanthropist’ on his journey ‘from fighting crime to fighting hunger’. Mr. Sivanandan, in his brief talk, spoke about the good work done by Lions for the less fortunate, briefly touched upon his NGO – Mumbai Roti Bank which is into food rescue operations. Roti Bank collects leftover food staples like roti, rice, pulses, etc.  and distributes it within 60-90 minutes. This Roti Bank, he mentioned, was launched in partnership with our internationally acclaimed ‘Dabbawallas’.  Lastly, he wished the incoming President Lion Feroze Katrak all the very best for his Lionistic year, when he would be installed as President of Lions Club of Byculla.

Lion Feroze Katrak thanked his Fund Raising Committee and mentioned that the LCB Fund Raiser was made possible thanks mainly of Uniply Industries, who spontaneously undertook to sponsor the event. He thanked its Executive Chairman, Keshav Kantamneni for this magnanimity and went on to individually thank each co-sponsor – i.e.,  eMudhra, Ajmal Perfumes, LIC of India, Red Brick Offices, Vector Projects, Mahindra Finance, Modern VR Security Force, Mahindra & Mahindra (Automotive Sector).
