Chikli Celebrates Dae Mahino Jasan

In keeping with the auspicious month of Dae, the Trustees of Chikli Parsi Anjuman held a Khushali nu Jasan, on 4th June, 2017, Roz Govad, at 10.20am. Performed by Er. Peshotan Katrak in presence of around fifty Zarthostis, the jasan concluded with a humbandagi, followed by the AGM of the Chikli Parsi Anjuman, chaired by Chief Guest and Managing Trustee of Khergam Parsi Anjuman, Pervez Khergamwala, along with others. Joint Managing Trustee, Dr. Yezdi Italia read out the finer points of the balance sheet of the Anjuman, followed by PT Reporter, Khushroo addressing the crowd. The function ended with Joint Managing Trustee, Minocher Katrak thanking all for their presence.

Dr. Yezdi Italia shared how the Chikli Agiary was built in memory of Bai Nali Bai by Framji and Dorabji Hormusji Gazder in 1874. The Agiary originally belonged to and was run by the Gazder family, who ten years ago, was handed over to the Chikli Parsi Anjuman, established in 1954, by Jamshed Gazder. The Agiary is now jointly managed from the funds of the Chikli Parsi Anjuman and Gazder Trust, with thirty-five Parsi families residing in this taluka. Other contributors include Dinshawji Edulji Italia who built a co-ed, Gujarati-medium primary and high school, and the Katrak family, led by Minocher Katrak, who established a blood-bank accessible from the National Highway, as well as a Lion’s Hall in Chikli.

The glow of hundreds of Divas at the Agiary, offering of sukhad to the Dadgah Saheb, the laughter and enjoyment all day long, clearly reflected the existing Parsipanu in this small town of Gujarat.
