Switzerland’s Parsi Community Gets Together For The First Time To Celebrate New Year And Khordad Saal!

On 22nd August, 2021, the Parsi Zarthusti community of Switzerland got together for a contributory lunch, at the restaurant – GourmIndia, in the picturesque city of Lucerne, to celebrate our Parsi New Year and Khordad Saal. ‘Will drive for two hours and more, all for our delicious Parsi bhonu’, being the mission of the Geneva lot, they turned up in good numbers. The gathering was also graced by Parsi families from Lausanne, St. Gallen, Basel, Neuchatel, Engelberg and Zurich.

GourmIndia, in Lucerne, is owned by Homyar Antalia and family, who also run a hotel in Engelberg. His wife – Gulcher, son – Rustom, daughter – Manashni, and daughter-in-law – Freeya, painstakingly curated and arranged the lovely menu, and everyone was treated to delicious Parsi cuisine – including mora daar chawal, prawn patio and sali botti, to name a few items.

This was the first time that the Parsi community gathered thus in Switzerland. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and returned home looking forward to many more!
