Khushali Nu Jashan in New Zealand To Usher in Positivity In The New Year

On 21st January, 2023, the merry Parsis of Auckland, New Zealand, organised a Khushali Nu Jashan, at the Dar-be-Mehr, providing a lovely opportunity for the Zoroastrian community to come together and start the New Year on an auspicious and positive note.

The Jashan also provided an opportunity to bid farewell to Er.Yazad Karkaria, who would be leaving New Zealand permanently, to attend to family matters in Mumbai. Er. Yazad has provided his services to our community, through his participation at several Jashans and religious ceremonies. He was felicitated with a traditional shawl as a farewell gift.

The Jashan commenced with the Auckland weather displaying all four seasons through the duration of the morning. The air was filled with the sonorous and beautiful recitation of our revered prayers by the Mobeds, creating the perfect occasion to thank and seek the continued blessings of our Creator.

The prayers were followed by the distribution of chashni, which was a veritable feast of traditional Zoroastrian delicacies, sweets and fruits – making Jashans celebratory occasions that create the union of both – our spirituality and our sweet tooth!

The Mobeds who conducted the Jashan – Er. Freddy Dastur, Er. Jamsheed Tata, Er. Yazad Karkaria, Er. Bakhtiyar Engineer and Er. Kaizad Engineer – were acknowledgements and thanked for their valued participation and selfless services. A vote of thanks was also mentioned for Benifer Irani for organising the Jashan and for always being enthusiastic and putting in efforts to bring the community together via Jashans and various events.
