Surat’s Yezdi Dapotawala Completes 2nd Ironman 70.3

Surat’s athletic champ, known for his physical agility and fitness, Yezdi Noshir Dapotawala, yet again deserves much kudos on having completed his second extreme endurance event – the Ironman 70.3, which concluded at Valsad, on 8th October, 2023. Yezdi secured fourth place, in his age category from 30 to 60 years.

52-year-old Yezdi’s passion and dedication towards this endurance triathlon sport – which includes the completion of swimming, cycling and running within the stipulated time – is indeed inspiring. Over 150 contestants participated in the Ironman 70.3, organised by the Valsad Racers Group, for the first time and stood out as a grand success. This year, Yezdi finished his 1.9 kms swim, 90 kms cycling and 21.1 kms running, in 7 hours 46 mins.

Sharing his experience with Parsi Times, Yezdi Dapotawala said, “It was a very well organised event with a superb pool swim, an excellent cycling route surrounded by green fields and finally running also through the green fields. The The swim started at 5:15 am sharp but by 8:00 am, the weather took downward turn, as it got really hot, with the temperatures hitting around 35° C with 80% humidity, by only 10:00 am! But I’m delighted to have been able to complete my second official Ironman 70.3, in fourth place in my age category.”

Exuding true ‘Bawa Power’, Yezdi has informed us that he now looks forward to participating in the Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship, which will take place in Bahrain, on 8th December, 2023. Post this, he plans to attempt the full Ironman next year, which comprises swimming – 3.8 kms; Cycling – 180 kms; and Running – 42.2 kms, to be completed withing 16 hours and 30 minutes!

A passionate athlete since childhood, Yezdi has participated in and won numerous endurance competitions across local, national and international platforms. “I request all my fellow Zoroastrians to take some time out from your hectic schedules – just an hour daily to dedicate to the betterment of your health. Respect and take care of your body! Follow your dreams, work hard and practice consistently, and success will be yours!”
