Ratan Tata Felicitated With KISS Humanitarian Award

Globally renowned industrialist and philanthropist, and pride of our community – Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, was bestowed the prestigious ‘KISS (Kalinga Institute Social Sciences) Humanitarian Award 2021’, in significant recognition of his unwavering commitment to social development and exemplary corporate leadership. The award was presented by Achyuta Samanta, the Founder of KIIT and KISS, on 22nd April, 2024, to Ratan Tata, at a private arrangement at Tata’s residence, in Mumbai, due to health reasons, for which Tata has been avoiding public appearances. The function was attended by Chairman of Tata Group – N. Chandrasekaran and three-time Grammy Award winner – Ricky Kej, among others.

The award was originally announced in 2021, but due to the delay caused by restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was presented only recently. Nearly 40,000 students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences got together to respect Ratan Tata with best wishes for his continued health, longevity, and well-being.

Achyuta Samanta shared, “Ratan Tata is a revered name in India, and he is truly a good person. Being able to honour him today with this award is a privilege for us… Tata’s social work and leadership have influenced me since childhood… My father was an employee of Tata Group. Since then, I have respected and liked Ratan Tata.”

“I am extremely happy to receive this honour. This is the most significant moment of my life,” said Ratan Tata.

Initiated in 2008 by Achyuta Samanta, the KISS Humanitarian Award is the highest honour of KIIT and KISS, dedicated to recognizing individuals and organizations that embody the spirit of humanitarian work worldwide. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include a diverse group of global leaders, Nobel laureates, and notable figures from various sectors.
