In December 2015, around the time when the Iranshah Utsav was held in Udvada, Australia was awarded the host nation for the 11th World Zoroastrian Congress (Adult) for the year 2018, as decided by the Global Working Group Meeting. The specific date and place where the 11th WZC will congregate has now been announced as well. Perth in Western Australia, one of the world’s most beautiful cities, will host this mega four-day event from the 1st to the 4th of June, 2018. Brandishing the motto, ‘Together Towards Tomorrow – The Aussie Way!’, this would be the first time that the adult Congress would be gracing Australian shores, making it a historic event for the excited Zoroastrian community in Australia.
Firoz K. Pestonji, from the Federation of Australian Zoroastrians, heads the organizing team of the 11th World Zoroastrian Congress. He shares, “Our Zoroastrian brethren in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and of course Perth, are looking forward to your presence here at the time. We shall endeavor to make this Congress a fun-time, entertaining and one with interesting, lively discussions. A fresh approach to the Congress is planned with local sightseeing; hobnobbing with Zoroastrians from the world over; exploring business opportunities for specialists and entrepreneurs by enabling networking with their Australian counterparts, and expanding their contacts and influence. We will appreciate your inputs to make it a memorable Congress, so do share your thoughts for the Congress and browse our website, www.11WZCperth.com.au, for more information or you could simply Google ‘11 World Zoroastrian Congress’ and register your interest. So join in, spread the world to your family and friends. We look forward to welcoming you to Australia!”
Registration for this 4-days-3-nights event is open to all global practicing Zoroastrians, with early bird registrations commencing from 1st January, 2017. Provisions for a travel agent will be made prior to opening registrations. With regard to the cost, currently, the 11th WZC being an all-inclusive Congress will include registration, accommodation, transportation, all meals, all events/entertainment between the 1st and 4th of Jun, 2018. Any activities other than those planned by the congress would be at the delegate’s own expense.
Being in the Southern Hemisphere, it would be winters during June in Perth, with expected temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius. The event schedule has been designed to keep the delegates busy and engaged, with the aim of encouraging them to participate collectively for increased camaraderie. However, there will also be designated free time for delegates, where they can choose to make their own plans, but these would be at the delegate’s own expense. A comprehensive tentative program is being worked on currently. Many event ideas have been suggested from Zoroastrians from all over the world. The schedule will be accessible to delegates, once it has been finalized. For further information, e-mail your queries to email@example.com .
