Cyrus Poonawalla Recieves Honorary Doctorate

Industrialist and Philanthropist, Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla was conferred an honorary ‘The Doctor of Humane Letters’ degree by University of Massachusetts (USA) in Worcester on 3rd June, 2018, for his efforts in providing life-saving vaccines at affordable prices. Established on 12th June, 1966, the Serum Institute of India (SII) is one of the world’s largest vaccine makers, providing 1.5 billion doses annually, which are administered by citizens of over 170 countries. As the Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of SII, Cyrus is credited with saving millions of lives – an estimated two-thirds of the world’s children have received at least one of the institute’s vaccines.
