Homavazir’s 11th CBDA Scout Group Celebrates Annual Day

The Annual Day of Homavazir’s 11th CBDA Scout Group was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the J B Vachha High School on 11th June, 2023, with Chief Guest – Guider Prochi Tachakra,Ex-District Commissioner and Leader Trainer for Guides, who was presented with an impressive guard of honour by the cubs and scouts.

The outdoor programme began with the Scout Prayer Song and flag hoisting ceremony followed by investiture of recruit Berjis Irani. A fiercely contested tug-of-war between two parent teams and a blind-folded breaking the chatty competition for scouts, was quite thrilling. The indoor programme commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest by Group Leader Zubin Bhamgara, with floral tributes.  In her address, the Chief Guest shared an inspiring account of the importance of scouting in today’s world.

Scout Rohaan Elavia initiated the proceedings with the explanation of the group song; the scout’s famous ‘Bombay Yell’ was given with gusto in honour of the Chief Guest. A report of the year’s activity was presented. An indoor game kept parents busy jogging their memory, solving a quiz on general scouting. The breath-taking finale of the evening that stole the show was a splendid performance by barely 6-year-old cub Zane Arethna, who climbed up a 20-feet-long rope ladder pioneered by scouts, and was then lowered down demonstrating the use of ‘Fireman’s Chair Knot’, which boys learn in scouting.

Scout Mazdaa Davar gave a dare devil demo of ‘Tarolene Traverse’ – skilfully traversing a horizontal rope anchored on two supports at a height of the first floor. The courage of the boys received much applause. Refreshments were then served, marking the end of a lovely eve.
