New ‘Pet’ Project By Ratan Tata

Well known for his compassion towards community (stray) animals, the community’s and the nation’s most loved and respected philanthropist, industrialist and visionary, 86-year-old Ratan Tata is all set to launch the ‘Tata Trusts Small Animal Hospital’ – his long-awaited, ‘pet’ project – a state-of-the-art, day-and-night animal hospital in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, as per news reports (TOI).

Born out of his personal struggle and global quest to find advanced medical care for his injured pet dog, the ‘Mumbai Animal Medical Center’, spanning 2.2 acres and built at a cost of Rs. 165 crore, will open its doors in early March, and will cater to dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals. It can accommodate 200 patients. The team will be led by British veterinarian Thomas Heathcote, who has relocated to Mumbai for the hospital.
