S F Jokhi Agiary Celebrates 18th Salgreh

The Shapoorji Fakirji Jokhi Agiary at Godrej Baug celebrated its 18th salgreh on 16th December, 2017, with a Machi in Uziran Geh performed by Panthaki Er. Harvesp Madon, followed by a jasan performed by Panthaki Er. Harvesp Madon, Er. Burjis Desai and Er. Delzad Inspector. Attended by over hundred Zarthostis, the jasan concluded with a humbandagi and a round of chasni, enjoyed by all present. The Holy Atash Padshah was originally enthroned in Tavri Village in Navsari and was later brought to Godrej Baug and enthroned in the Shapoorji Fakirji Jokhi Agiary. The celebrations called ‘Melavdo’ continued at the nearby Eco-park with the children of Godrej Baug commencing the function with prayers, monajats and a welcome song, followed by a skit on the life and teachings of Zarathushtra, coordinated by Jer Nargolwalla, Previn Sidhwa and Bapsy Modi.

The function was graced by Chief Guest, eminent Senior Counsel, Firoze Andhyarujina, Keynote Speaker for the day, Er. Cyrus Darbari, BPP Chairman, Yazdi Desai and wife, Anahita and BPP Trustee, Viraf Mehta. President Farhad Hozdar welcomed the gathering followed by Er. Cyrus Darbari who spoke of the ‘Significance of Farokhshi Prayers’ which was applauded by all. Firoze Andhyarujina addressed issues faced by our community, providing solutions to handle these with dignity. The GBRWA awarded merit certificates and cash prizes to achievers in academics, sports and extra curricular activities. This year, the association also presented a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to Khorshed Bhathena for her significant contribution in the field of Aquatics. Compered by Hon. Gen. Secretary, Shahrukh Bilimoria, Vice President Neville Daroga presented the vote of thanks thanking the Bombay Parsee Punchayet and other donors and well-wishers for their support. The program concluded with a gambhar catered by Tehmtan Dumasia of ‘K Caterers’
