CRICKET

India Beats Pakistan: An all-round, dominating effort from the men in blue helped them comfortably beat arch-rivals Pakistan by eight wickets during the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Indian bowlers bundled out Pakistan for a paltry 162 in 43.1 overs. After the initial hiccup of losing both openers, Shoaib Malik and Babar Azam tried to repair the damage. The former perished after scoring 43 while Azam was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav while batting on 47. None of the other batsmen were able to salvage the situation. India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar snapped up 3-15 in his seven overs while Kedar Jadhav grabbed 3-23 in his nine overs.
Chasing 163 for victory, India reached their target in just 29 overs itself, gaining great momentum in the series. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan provided a good opening stand of 86 runs before Shadab Khan bowled Rohit for 52 while Dhawan perished on 46. The duo, Ambati Rayudu (31*) and Dinesh Karthik (31*) brought in a convincing victory. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was Man of the Match. The teams that have qualified for the next stage of the Asia Cup i.e. super-four are: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Shahbaz Nadeem Makes World Record: Jharkhand spinner Shahbaz Nadeem produced a brilliant bowling haul of 8-10 against Rajasthan during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match, thus entering the record books, breaking the two decade-old World Record for best bowling figures in ‘List A’ Cricket. His final figures read as 10-4-10-8 with Jharkhand winning by seven wickets.

Sindhu, Srikanth Enter China Open Quarters: India shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth showcased their prowess besting their respective opponents to enter the quarter-finals of China Open 2018. Sindhu defeated Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan: 21-23, 21-13, 21-18 while Srikanth overpowered his Thai opponent Suppanyu Avihingsanon: 21-12, 15-21, 24-22.

Vijay Wins Bronze At JWC, Slovakia: Indian wrestler Vijay grabbed a bronze medal in the 55kg Greco-Roman category defeating rival Cihat Ahmet Liman of Turkey 16-8 during the Junior World Championships (JWC) in Slovakia.

Premier League: On 15th September, Liverpool won 2-1 V/s Tottenham Hotspur; AFC Bournemouth beat Leicester City 4-2; Chelsea beat Cardiff City 4-1; and Manchester City beat Fulham 3-0. The following day Wolverhampton Wanderers clinched a 1-0 victory while West Ham United won 3-1 beating Everton.
