Nagpur Agiary Celebrates 123rd Salgreh

The Zoroastrian community in Nagpur gathered embellishing their daglis and kor-ni-sarees, to commemorate the 123rd Salgreh of Bai Hirabai Mullan Dar-E-Meher on 5th October, 2018. The celebrations commenced with a jasan performed by eight mobeds at 5:30 pm, followed by distribution of chasni and refreshments. A Falaa Ni Maachi was offered to the Atash Padshah, after which the crowd proceeded towards the Dharamshala lawns for the evening’s function that commenced with a Humbandagi led by Panthaki Er. Percy Panthaki.

Chaired by Chief Guest and President of Nagpur Parsi Punchayet (NPP), Aspi Bapuna, awards and merit prizes were given to achievers on behalf of NPP. Shanoor Mirza was felicitated for taking charge as the Head Mistress of the J N Tata Parsi Girls’ High School, followed by cash prize distribution to students who displayed outstanding performance in academics and extra-curricular activities. Dr. Jerestine Watchmaker was awarded the ‘Outstanding Parsi Achiever Prize’ for completing and winning many state and national marathons throughout the year, while the ‘Dr. Jamshed Irani and Late Mr. Khushroo Doongaji prizes’ were awarded to outstanding achievers in the field of cricket. The event also witnessed the felicitations of winners of various event conducted annually under the ‘Dr. Dadi Balsara Indoor Sports Tournament’ by Mehroo Bapuna. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tauby Bhagwagar, followed by a rendition of Chhaiye Hame Zarthosti and dinner.
