Being born as a woman is a blessing and a privilege – we are natural multi-taskers. We have the ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously – even so, I’d like to emphasize on the importance of doing what you truly desire rather than being in the confines of what is expected of you. Self-love plays a crucial role – you’ve got to love yourself enough to give yourself the right to be you, just the way you are. Once you liberate yourself thus, the world will align itself around you! And you will be the Queen of Your Universe! As we head into a New Year, here are five pointers that I’d like to share with my lovely ladies to fit in with their schedules (no matter how hectic), that have contributed greatly to my success:

Start The Day With ‘Me-Time’: I knew I needed a change in order to be a better person and have a greater presence in my own life. Instead of reaching for my phone right away and immediately jumping into work mode, or social media like WhatsApp and Facebook, I resolved to enjoy some quality ‘Me Time’ first thing every morning, even if only for just 10 minutes. Spend this time being more conscious of yourself as you, not your capacities – I’ll do things like lie in bed and take note of things I’m grateful for, and ensure I’m enjoying my morning coffee. And once you start to see and feel the benefits, it’s easy to continue putting yourself first. Remember, it takes a self-assured and sorted woman to successfully run a happy home and office.

Make The World A Kinder Place: I resolved to express myself to others more often with the hope of making the world a kinder place. While we often think nice things about others, I’ve found that expressing it actively, not only brightens my day, but also the days of countless others. It’s taught me to find joy in the ordinary and to be grateful for the simple moments. One good deed – big or small – is one step closer to a happier, better version of you.

“I enjoy reading Parsi Times every Saturday – I find the news precise and ‘as is’. It’s not preachy, it sticks to the facts. PT is one of the few papers which is truly unprejudiced. It makes for a great weekend read – we get to know the ongoings within our Community, its columns are informative and fun, and it has something for all age-groups. I thank PT for supporting me through my journey and a big cheers to PT readers all for your encouragement!”

Gain Confidence, Take Chances: If you are confident, other people notice it, and it is much easier to have your opinions heard. A good dose of self-confidence will help you lead a much happier life overall. Women, as I have said time and again, are inherent multi-taskers and risk takers – be confident about your instincts and take a chance.

Stop Procrastinating, Keep It Simple: The biggest barrier that keeps most people from reaching their goals is the desire to indulge in lethargy – relax and do something fun, instead of working hard. Once you get used to procrastinating, it’s difficult to snap yourself out of it, so you’ll need to put in a lot of work to change this bad habit. If there is a dream, hope or a bucket list, take the first step and say, “I CAN,” instead of “MAYBE LATER.”

Spend More Time With The People That Matter: Life is short – don’t waste your precious time around insincere, duplicitous and toxic people. Focus on the people who we care about deeply and who care about us, as this is the best way to stay happy. Be with who wants to be with you.

Be the Queen of your Universe!!! Happy New Year to all!
