New Version Of Monajat ‘Khudavind Khavind’ Released

A new and melodic version of the popular Parsi monajat (religious song) ‘Khudavind Khavind’, earlier sung by Mani Rao, and released on 26th August, 2023, by music composer, Kaizad Patel, who also conceptualised this idea to recreate the beautiful monajat with greater technical inputs (adding to the divinity essence), so as to find greater appeal with this generation. Singer Naynaz Munsaf’s melodious voice adds to the beauty of the monajat.

Khudavind Khavind was released on Kaizad Patel’s ‘BombaySargam’ channel on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F43fxXl_TH0), and is also available on all music platforms like Spotify, Amazon Music, Jio Saavn, Hungama, etc. Kaizad Patel shared, “Since good musical talents everywhere in India and the world are creating some great devotional tracks, I thought even us Parsis could create a more soulful rendition of our old monajats and share it with our community. I like being innovative and having composed a number of Hindi songs, I wanted to include devotional songs too – Khudavind Khavind is my second Gujarati monajat, after ‘Asho Zarthost Paigamber’, sung and composed by me and written by Kerman Mehta.”

With outfits by Monaz Jamadar Farida couture, the video of the song has been shot at various religious locations including Pak Iranshah Atashbehram (Udvada); Rustom Framna Agiyari (Dadar); Shapoorji Fakirji Jokhi Agiyari (Godrej Baug); Soonawala Agiyari (Mahim); Anjuman Atashbehram (Marine Lines); and Pak Anjuman Navsari Atashbehram.

Talented singer, Naynaz Munsaf, has completed her Visharad in Classical Music; her cover song ‘Lag Jaa Gale’ is listed on Saregama Open Stage channel. She said, “I just loved hearing the track and its recreated version and decided to sing this Monajat, especially as I remember singing it with my grandparents in my childhood. I feel fortunate for this opportunity and am elated with the love and support we received from our community, as we had put in a lot of hard work for this song.”

Kaizad and Naynaz plan to continue collaborating on more devotional Parsi songs in the future.
