India Clinch Victory During Third Test Match: Skipper and Man of the Match Virat Kohli’s blistering knocks, coupled with five wicket hauls from Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah ensured India a win by a huge margin of 203 runs during the third Test Match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. On the whole a clinical effort in all three departments…batting bowling and fielding got the visiting team back into the tournament despite being 0-2 down earlier on. Batting during the first innings, India put on 329 in 94.5 overs courtesy a 159 run partnership for the fourth wicket between captain Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane. The former smashed 97 before being caught by Stokes off an Adil Rashid delivery while Rahane perished after making 81. In reply, England perished for a mere 161 all out in just 38.2 overs as Hardik snapped up 5-28 in his six overs. During the second innings, India declared after scoring 352-7 in 110 overs courtesy brilliant batting from Kohli (103), Cheteshwar Pujara (72), and Hardik’s 52 ball 50. England succumbed for 317 during the fourth innings on day five with Bumrah grabbing (5-85) in 29 overs as the series is now placed at 1-2.

Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari Receive Call Up For Team India: BCCI announced that they have named 18 year old Prithvi Shaw and 24 year old Hanuma Vihari in the squad for the last two Tests against England at Southampton and Oval. The swashbuckling batsman… Prithvi averages 56.72 in first class cricket with seven hundreds and five fifties playing for Mumbai and has also led India under 19 to a World Cup title earlier this year. Vihari captains Andhra in Ranji Trophy and averages 59.79 across 63 games with his highest being 302 not out.


Asian Games 2018

Indian athletes are making the country proud each day by adding more medals to the total tally. On the very first day itself Indian shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar kicked off India’s campaign by bagging bronze in the 10 m Air Rifle mixed team event. Further Deepak Kumar won a silver at the Men’s 10m Rifle. 24 year old Bajrang Punia bagged the first gold for the country in wrestling winning all his bouts in the 65 kg category. 19 year old Lakshay clinched a silver in the Men’s Trap shooting. Vinesh Phogat created history by becoming the first Indian women wrestler to win an Asian Games gold medal. While Abhishek Sharma won bronze in the 10m Air Pistol event.

16 year old Saurabh Chaudhary grabbed a glittering gold on his debut in the 10m Air Pistol event. On the other hand, Sanjeev Rajput settled for a silver in the 50m rifle final. Further, the Indian men’s Sepak Takraw Regu team won a bronze on day three. Divya Kakran secured a bronze medal for India in the 68 kg Women’s Freestyle Wrestling. Shooter Rahi Sarnobat grabbed another gold for the country in the 25m pistol competition. Naorem Roshibina Devi grabbed a bronze in the 60 kg women’s sand, Santosh Kumar won a bronze in Men’s Wushu 56kg. Indian men’s Kabaddi team clinched bronze.
