Ratan Tata Lays Foundation Stone For Cancer Hospital In Ranchi

Tata Trust Chairman Ratan Tata, along with Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das recently laid the foundation stone for the world-class cancer hospital which will be established in Ranchi. The hospital will offer a fifty beds facility, along with fourteen world class Operation Theatres, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with twenty-eight beds, and a Blood Bank. Fifty per cent of the beds will be reserved for the people hailing from Jharkhand. Lauding the Central and the State Governments for showing concern to tackle cancer, by helping them set up a number of cancer hospitals across the country.

With a vision of building a cancer specialist hospital on the lines of Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) in Mumbai, Ratan Tata said, “Tata Trust was committed to make Ranchi hospital a success – it will also be a symbol of prosperity and good health of the people living in the area. In the next twenty to thirty years, Tata Trust hopes to set up a pattern along with the Government to reduce the number of deaths taking place due to cancer.”

Tha Ranchi hospital is a part of the Rs. 1,000 crore pledge by Ratan Tata led ‘Tata Trust’ to provide access to treatment to thousands of cancer patients across five states in the country, viz. Assam, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
