Salgreh Celebrations At Pak Iran Shah (Udvada)

April 22, 2019 (Mah Adar – Roj Adar) marked the most auspicious day in the Parsi calender, the birthday of our holy Fire and the 1,298th Salgreh of our sanctum sanctorum – Shreeji Pak Iran Shah Atash Behram in Udwada. The Udwada Nine Family Shahenshahi Athornan Anjuman extended an invitation to all Zarthostis to commemorate the auspicious occasion, which started with a Jashan at 10:00 am, performed by Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor, in the Aatash Behram.

A conservative estimate of around 2,000 devotees visited the Atash Behram. Lunch for over 1,800 devotees was generously sponsored by Sir D. M. Petit Charities in the D M Petit compound, opposite Iranshah Apartments. There was a Machi performed in the Awishathrum Geh in the evening, followed by another Jashan in the same Geh. The evening also witnessed a huge attendance of Humdins.

Speaking to Parsi Times on the occasion, Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor said, “I am glad to see such a huge turnout. I wish to extend my apologies for the inconvenience that may have been caused to the devotees as the Iran Shah building is under renovation. May the holiest fire of our Shreeji Iran Shah burn in all perpetuity and always continue to bless our Community with a good mind and obeisance in the future. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful volunteers for their continued support year after year.”
