IPL 2019: AB de Villiers Helps RCB Beat KXIP: Man of the Match AB de Villiers’ scintillating knock of an unbeaten 82 in 44 deliveries, which included seven sixes and three fours, helped Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Kings XI Punjab by 17 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The Royals notched up 202-4 in 20 overs. Opener Parthiv Patel slammed a 24 ball 43 coupled with seven fours and two sixes. Along with AB de Villiers, it was Marcus Stoinis who added the finishing touches with his unbeaten 46 in 34 balls. Amongst the Kings bowlers, Mohammed Shami, Murugan Ashwin, skipper R. Ashwin and Hardus Viljoen snapped up one wicket each. For KXIP, KL Rahul scored 42, Chris Gayle made 23, Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran contributed 35 and 46 respectively. For RCB, Umesh Yadav picked up (3-36). But RCB clinched the win.

 CSK Beats Sunrisers By Six Wickets: Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s Man of the Match – Shane Watson’s 96 off 53 helped them win by six wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Batting first, SRH made 175-3 in 20 overs, with Manish Pandey (83*) and David Warner (57). For CSK, Harbhajan took (2-39) while Deepak Chahar grabbed (1-30). For CSK, Watson and Suresh Raina took the attack back to the opposition. CSK finished with 176-4 in 19.5 overs, winning another two points.

Sindhu, Nehwal and Verma Enter Quarters Of Asia Badminton Championships: Star Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Sameer Verma played exceptionally to move into the quarter finals after winning their round of sixteen individual encounters during the Asia Badminton Championships 2019 at Wuhan, China. Sindhu defeated Indonesia’s Choirunnisa 21-15, 21-19; Saina beat Korea’s Kim Ga Eun 21-13, 21-13; and in the Men’s Singles, Sameer Verma outclassed Hong Kong’s Ka Long Angus in straight games 21-12, 21-19.


ISSF WORLD CUP

Manu Bhaker-Saurabh Chaudhary Win Gold: The talented, young Indian shooters duo – Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary, won a gold medal in the 10 m Air Pistol Mixed team event, clinching victory over Chinese Jiang Ranxin and Pang Wei, by a comprehensive margin of 16-6 during the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Beijing China.


FOOTBALL

 Premier League Results: On 20th April, Manchester beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0; Fulham won 1-0 V/s AFC Bournemouth; Watford overpowered Huddersfield Town 2-1; West Ham United drew 2-2 with Leicester City; Newcastle United won 3-1 V/s Southampton. The following day Everton thrashed Manchester United 4-0; Crystal Palace defeated Arsenal 3-2; and Liverpool pipped Cardiff City 2-0. 22rd April saw Chelsea and Burnely draw at 2-2. The next day, Tottenham Hotspur beat Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 while Watford drew 1-1 with Southampton.

Nadal Beats Mayer In Barcelona Open: Rafael Nadal avoided successive shock losses on clay court as he began his Barcelona Open title defence with a 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 6-2 win V/s Leonardo Mayer.

Pu Chitra Bags Gold For India: Athlete PU Chitra clinched a gold medal for India in the 1500 meter Women’s Final at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships, in Doha, with her record time of 4 minutes and 14.45 seconds.
