Mumbai Beats Saurashtra in Vijay Hazare Cup: Outstanding batting from Suryakumar Yadav (85*), Shubham Ranjane (45*) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (73) helped Mumbai register a five-wicket victory against Saurashtra at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur. Batting first, Saurashtra posted 245-9 in 50 overs as Aarpit Vasavada top scored with 59 while Chirag Jani contributed 40 not out. For Mumbai, Shardul Thakur picked (3-36) while Shams Mulani grabbed (3-49) in 10 overs. In reply, the Mumbai boys cruised to victory finishing with 248-5 in 48 overs. Surya’s mighty blows of nine fours and three sixes en route 85, helped Mumbai win.

PG’s Abhimanyu Vashishtha Grabs Hat-trick in Kanga League: A splendid show by Parsee Gymkhana (PG) helped them beat opponents Khar Gymkhana and take a first innings lead during round 11 of the historic Kanga League Cricket Tournament in Mumbai. Batting first, Khar Gym were bundled out for 126 in 35 overs as Dinar Gaonkar remained not out on 37. Amongst the PG bowlers, Abhimanyu Vashishtha picked a hat-trick (3-30) in his 6-over spell. Aditya Dhumal snapped up (3-22) in 9 overs. Speedsters Nipun Panchal and Shivam Malhotra took three wickets. During PG’s first innings, skipper Aakarshit Gomel scored a great 63 which included nine boundaries. Nikhil Patil played well for his unbeaten 43 while Rraunak struck a mighty maximum during the end as PG declared at 130-3 in 32 overs. Batting during their second innings Khar Gym finished the day and declared after scoring 21-1 in 8.1 overs, as Rraunak bowled Priyank Shetty on seven.

TENNIS

Djoko In Quarter-Finals: Japan Open: World number one tennis star, Novak Djokovic, held his nerve and put up a good show at the Japan Open, fending off a tough challenge from Japanese wild card, Go Soeda, 6-3, 7-5; and moving into the quarter- finals where faces Lucas Pouille of France.

HOCKEY

India Beats Belgum: The Indian Men’s hockey team fought brilliantly to garner a 2-1 win over reigning World and European Champs, Belgium, to register their fourth consecutive win of the tour in Antwerp. Amit Rohidas struck in the 10th minute while Simranjeet Singh scored in the 52nd minute for India.

FOOTBALL

Premier League Results: On 28th September Liverpool beat Sheffield United 1-0; Aston Villa and Burnley were involved in a 2-2 draw; AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United also drew 2-2; Chelsea overpowered Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0; Crystal Palace beat Norwich City 2-0; while Tottenham Hotspur edged out Southampton 2-1. Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Watford 2-0 and finally Manchester City won 3-1 V/s Everton. Next day, Leicester City thrashed Newcastle United 5-0 and 30th September saw Manchester United and Arsenal locked at 1-1.
