Vicky Kaushal Plays Sam Manekshaw in Biopic

Ronnie Screwvala and Meghna Gulzar, who are working together on the biopic of one of the most celebrated Indians, our very own Sam Manekshaw – the first Field Marshal of India and honoured with the Padma Vibushan award – have finally decided on who will play this real life hero In reel-life – the talented Vicky Kaushal, who has played lead roles in hits including ‘Uri’ and ‘Raazi’. The news was announced on the 27th of June, 2019, commemorating the lion-hearted Field Marshal’s passing away anniversary (27th June, 2008). While sharing the first look pic, Meghna Gulzar tweeted, “A Soldier’s Soldier. A Gentleman’s Gentleman. In remembrance, on the death anniversary of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. It is my honour to tell the story of one of India’s greatest war heroes…”

“Sam Manekshaw’s name will be etched in history as one of the greatest soldiers and minds India has ever seen. Young India desperately needs role models to look up to, needs to be educated on the contribution made by this icon to India…” Ronnie Screwvala praised the Field Marshal, who had pulled off a spectacular historic win for the Indian Army against Pakistan in 1971. Kaushal tweeted, “The swashbuckling general and the first Field Marshal of India – SAM MANEKSHAW. I feel honoured and proud of getting a chance to unfold his journey on-screen.”
