CRICKET

India Whitewash West Indies To Win T20 Series: Exceptional bowling from Deepak Chahar (3-4), Navdeep Saini (2-34) coupled with great batting knocks from Indian skipper Virat Kohli (59) and Rishabh Pant (65*), helped India win the third T20 in style by seven wickets at Providence Stadium in Guyana. With this victory India grabs a series win of 3-0 against West Indies. The Indian squad proved to be the better team during all three contests to achieve success. During the third T20, batting first, West Indies notched up 146-6 in 20 overs, courtesy a 58 from Kieron Pollard and an unbeaten 20 ball 32 from Rovman Powell. In reply, India chased down the target comfortably, reaching 150-3 in 19.1 overs. For West Indies, Oshane Thomas was the pick of the bowlers snapping up (2-29) in his four overs. Deepak Chahar won Man of the Match while Krunal Pandya took home Man of the Series.

Hashim Amla Retires From International Cricket: South African opener Hashim Amla announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket after playing in 124 Tests and 181 ODI’s for the Proteas. He represented the team in 44 T20 internationals as well. He last played for South Africa during the 2019 World Cup in England. His prolific Test career boasts of 9,282 runs in 215 innings of the 124 games. He has scored 28 centuries and 4 double tons.

BADMINTON

Rankireddy, Shetty Win Men’s Doubles: Indian shuttlers Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty created history, clinching their first ever super 500 title, defeating the Chinese pair – Li Jun Hui and Lui Yu Chen – in the men’s doubles final at the Thailand Open. The Indian pair put up a great performance to upset their rivals and grabbed a 21-19, 18-21, 21-18 win, thus making India proud!

TENNIS

Serena, Osaka Advance in WTA Toronto Tourney: Tennis star Serena Williams put up a fabulous dominating show during her first match defeating 20th ranked Belgium’s Elise Mertens 6-3, 6-3 at the WTA Toronto tournament. On the other hand, reigning US and Australian Open champion, Naomi Osaka of Japan, won her respective contest after winning the first set 6-2 as her German opponent, Tatjana Maria, retired due to an injury.

PRO KABADDI RESULTS

3rd August saw Jaipur Pink Panthers beat Patna Pirates 34-21, Bengaluru Bulls outplayed Bengal Warriors 43-42. The next day Tamil Thalaivas overpowered rivals Haryana Steelers 35-28 while Puneri Paltan defeated Patna Pirates 41-20. 5th August saw Dabang Delhi K.C steal a win 35-24 against Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltan beat Gujarat Fortunegiants 33-31. On 7th August Haryana Steelers defeated Patna Pirates 35-26. On 8th August Bengaluru Bulls thrashed Telugu Titans 47-26.
